Bio
Mathew Magneson is a Métis composer, sound designer, producer, and songwriter whose work explores the intersection of music, film, and sound. His work spans film, theatre, multimedia, and recorded music, combining original composition, sound design, location sound, and experimental approaches to sound.
His graduate work in Music Production, Technology and Innovation at Berklee College of Music focused on electroacoustic composition, field recording, sound processing, and emerging audio technologies.

“There is so much to admire in this production. For example, the soundscape at the top of the show most certainly piqued my curiosity and interest. At one point there is the sound of a beating heart and I thought I also heard breath exhaling and inhaling which was highly effective as I felt my own breath exhaling and inhaling simultaneously. Mathew Magneson’s choice and selection of musical accompaniment effectively heightened many of the emotional moments throughout the play.”
FILM & SOUND
Film Scoring — Post-Degree Certificate in Film Scoring, Film Scoring Academy of Europe, Varna, Bulgaria. Mathew’s screen-oriented work combines composition, sound design, and production to support narrative and atmosphere.
Sound Design — Work includes theatrical soundscapes, Foley, sound effects, hybrid scoring, and location sound. For Native Enough, Mathew provided score, sound design, and location sound; for Theatre By The Bay productions, he collaborated with directors and producers to shape musical cues and sonic environments.

SOUND & TECHNOLOGY
Mathew’s current practice extends beyond conventional music production into experimental and technology-driven sound. His work and studies include field recording, electroacoustic composition, sound processing, audiovisual systems, and interactive media. Technologies in his broader production practice include Pro Tools, Max/MSP, Jitter, Resolume Arena, OBS, and Syphon.
At Berklee College of Music, Mathew is developed an electroacoustic body of work exploring environmental sound through field recording, experimental sound processing, and technology-based composition.
